How To Shop The New Year SALES Like a Buyer.

It's an exciting time for deal hunters!  It's January!  The first of the year is that time of year — SALE, SALE, SALE.  How do you successfully shop a sale?  We ask Julie Jophiel president and founder who does all the store's buying, to help answer the important questions. Julie:  My response is always the same…for the best selection, always shop the first markdown, and be prepared by having gone through your closet, which we just shared in our stylist tips and tricks Style News story!  Then come with a list or an idea of what you are looking to add to your wardrobe.  That sounds like a lot of upfront work, why be prepared?  Julie:  If you need to replenish basics in...

Work What You Got!

At many times in life we will find ourselves as a tweener: a person considered to be between two recognized categories. Whether we are passing from a life in academia to a new job, we recently received a promotion, change of job, change of city?  We find ourselves mothers and grandmothers, or are transitioning from a career to retirement.  We can fall between two recognized fields with which we identify, and can come upon the proverbial fork in the road at any time in our journey.  The question is, how do we respond to our new direction? S-s-summertime, summertime sandals!

Read more from Jophiel Stylist and  Assoc Dir - Digital Media and Marketing, Leah Strauss Grant. Every advent of summer I think of a news scandal from 2005 focused on a women’s collegiate sports team that met the then president George W Bush, wearing their summer finery, celebrating their national championship and there, photographed on their feet, were flip-flops.  The casual, slip on shoe relegated to running the last-minute errand, covering your feet at the pool, slipping on when walking out the trash.  The question maybe isn’t when are flip-flops a fashion faux-pas, but when are they not! I got my first pair of flip-flops when I went to camp in the 4th grade.  They were purple, foam flip-flops from...
